I’ve studied technology and I’ve studied philosophy in my days.
I even studied the philosophy of technology. And the technology of philosophy. And still I can’t answer the question what comes first, doing or knowing?
Yet, engineering can solve many problems, even though it may remain a mystery why. That gives it a higher epistemic status than science even.
In Britain, engineers and philosophers are trying to find out what they can learn from eachother. Knowing quite some engineers, I gather the philosophers will have a lot of work to do to convince them there’s some use in abstract thinking with words.
