Allegro non troppo
The German public channel ARD showed the Italian movie Allegro on troppo last night. It is hailed by the critics as a spoof on Disney’s Fantasia, but there’s another reason why I had my computer capture this film. I was curious to know if this was indeed the movie shown on a Christmas day somewhere in the seventies, that had made a lasting impact on me. Just the notion of classical music illustrated by very good animation never has led me to this title before.
And indeed, I remembered the animation of Ravel’s Bolero with all the dinosaurs as clearly as if I had seen it just a fortnight ago. Strange how this thing called memory works.
